we woke up and arrived in the city surrounded by water bright and early in the morning and we found our way to our hotel through the empty streets. in italy no one seems to leave their homes or open up shop until at least after lunch, we were always the first to be out and about each morning where ever we went. I love to take photos of my surroundings and venice was so inspiring. I was snapping photos every two minutes, over every bridge and around every unique corner. the doors and windows were all so well made and unique I just couldn't pass them up. I love all the fresh flowers and greenery that were adorning the window sills all bright and cheerful next to age old architecture.
I loved venice. I'm not sure if was because it truly was my first taste of italy but I loved it. venice felt really italian and old-worldy to me in a way. it was probably because there were no cars or traffic lights, only gondolas and boats at port. there were tiny narrow streets that twisted, turned and intertwined all lined with cafe's, bakeries and handmade specialty shops. streets would suddenly open up into a large plaza that at times were empty and others filled with a flea market of sorts. you felt secluded but in quite a good way.
