I had my first authentic pizza margherita in venice, oh boy was it good. after we dropped off our bags we made our way to piazza san marco. we toured the church and after that the palace just next door. the church had an amazing golden ceiling of tiny mosaic pieces, and the palace was filled with the most beautiful artwork from centuries ago. oh the photo's i would've taken. after many hours of touring we had quite worked up our appetites and found our selves at a restaurant with tables over looking the water. the pizza was so light, and crisp with the perfect amount of sauce to cheese and what set it a part form all the pizza margherita I had in every other city were the herbs, I believe it had to be marjoram, just so delicately sprinkled on top. mmm! my mouth is watering now! we spent just the one day in venice, stayed the night and caught an early train to florence but venice is definitely a place i will to revisit and explore once again.
